The History Behind RGV DJs

Since 1985, RGV DJs has been setting the standard for entertainment in the Rio Grande Valley. Founded by Gonzalo Garcia Jr., also known as DJ Cue of Innovative Sounds, the company was born out of a passion for music, entertainment, and community service.

At just 14, DJ Cue began collecting LPs and cassettes, DJing school events, and volunteering at St. Helen Church. As his talent grew, so did his opportunities. Soon after, he started DJing private parties, weddings, and quinceañeras. By the age of 22, he took the next big step and officially launched Innovative Sounds, his first DJ service company.

Expanding Into the Music Industry

By 1998, DJ Cue had expanded his impact beyond events. Recognizing a need for independent music production in South Texas, he established G Spot Records, the first Latino-owned independent record label in the Rio Grande Valley.

As a result, he began working with local talent, helping form the RGV Coalition and opening Studio 591 – The House of Hits. His work led to collaborations with artists who opened for Ludacris, Fat Joe, Naughty by Nature, SPM, and many more.

RGV DJs in the Club Scene

In 2000, DJ Cue launched RGVDJs.com and entered the club scene, performing at popular venues across South Texas. His high-energy performances made him a favorite at clubs such as:

• City Lights – Harlingen, TX
• Rack Daddy’s – Harlingen, TX
• Medusa – Harlingen, TX
• Upside Down Bar – Brownsville, TX
• Club Chaos – South Padre Island, TX

Along the way, he collaborated with well-known DJs and MCs, including DJ Curtis, DJ Bad Boy Pete, DJ Innovation, DJ Rinza, DJ Nasty Boy, DJ Lex, and DJ NRG.

A New Purpose: DJing for God & Family

In 2007, DJ Cue felt a powerful calling to leave the club scene and focus on family-friendly events. He wanted to help people celebrate life’s blessings—birthdays, weddings, Quinceanera, and reunions.

This shift in focus led him to merge with longtime friend DJ John of DJ USA. Together, they continue to bring joy to families and events worldwide.
